Cloudspun Angoras
Breeding beautiful goats,
for gorgeous handspinning fleeces
Sharon graduated from UBC with her BSc in Animal Science, and began working as a caretaker of 400 angora goats in Canada, before going on to establish her own herd. Cloudspun Angoras has produced multiple local and National Champions, quality breeding stock and gorgeous prize winning fleeces over the last thirty years in Oregon.
She has judged and taught workshops on selection, nutrition, breeding and management of angoras as well as spinning and dyeing mohair at major fiber events such as the Black Sheep Gathering, Big Sky Fiber Festival, Estes Park Wool Market, the Michigan Fiber Fest, and County and State Fairs.
Sharon established the Colored Angora Goat Record in 1993, and was instrumental in developing it into a national Registry for colored angoras.
She especially enjoyed her 8 years as a 4H Fiber Goat and Fiber Arts Club Leader and developing an angora goat advancement project. She is an avid dyer, spinner and knitter of 100% mohair.
In 2016 Sharon took the time to distill her experiences as a breeder, mohair producer and fiber artist to write and publish her book 'Raising Angora Goats for Beautiful Mohair'. She still cherishes her goats.
